I could never figure this out for the life of me. Case-in-point–Beyonce. She was/is a spokesperson for L’oreal hair products but within the marketing/ads, she’s wearing her lace front wigs. Isn’t this false advertising? What are some of your opinions on this?

**In no way am I “downing” her or any other celebrity–I think these hair accessories are awesome but I just don’t understand why they are advertising for a hair product, believing in these products, but are doing so without using their real hair as a part of supporting these prods.
misspelling of fron–should be front. Ooopppss! (In original question). Should have spell-checked!!

  • How to Have Great Fun at College

Posted on January 31st, 2009 admin No comments
    Tom Tessin asked:

Having fun in college can be very easy for some but difficult for others. The world is filled with many different people with many different hobbies. Some find college built for their mindset while others find it frustrating and boring. College can fun for everyone if you think of the ideas that can keep your entertained. I’ll show you a few examples of how to have fun on campus without getting in trouble.

Campus sponsored events - Depending on the campus you’re attending, there’s probably an event going on everyday that you’re not aware of. A good way to see what events are going on is to either check the local bulletin boards, the college website or ask fellow classmates. Sometimes you’ll be amazed at what kind of events the college offers. Who knows? There may be something you love that you can make a ton of friends and have fun at the same time!

Some of the events that you may find yourself attending are block parties, organized sporting leagues, movies, concerts, social clubs, chess clubs, etc. I guarantee that you if you look at the list of events that you’ll find something that will cater your needs.

Join an organization - No matter what college you’re attending, you’ll always find an organization. If you’re not familiar with what n organization is, it’s a group that usually has a focus or cause. Groups like MADD are a perfect example where their group focuses on mothers against drunk driving. If you have a view on something and you want to get with a group that has similar thoughts, an organization may be for you.

Host parties - If you’re renting out a house or you simply know of a big common ground, hosting a party or get together might be one of the best times you’ll ever have. Simply tell your friends and the word will spread very quickly. You can simply put on the invitation that everyone needs to bring their own drinks and food. This way, you’ll only be responsible for your house or the area. Parties don’t always have to include alcoholic drinks; instead you can a fun time without them and just socialize with friends instead.

Think like home - Staying on campus can make some people very home sick. Instead, try and think of what you did while you were at home to keep busy. Did you play a lot of video games? Did you read a lot? Try and pretend that your dorm room and college is your home now where you and your family live. If you can condition yourself to do this, keeping busy and having fun shouldn’t be a problem. Remember, you can’t live with mommy and daddy forever.

As you can see by these few options that college can be a blast if you become motivated and find ways to have fun. Sitting in your dorm all day and being depressed won’t be fun. Just remember that the fun won’t come to you, you’ll have to go out there and find it!

  • Student Time Management - How To Balance Study With Fun

Posted on January 26th, 2009 admin No comments
    Abhishek Agarwal asked:

So, you thought high school was a drag and heading off to college was your ticket to freedom before you got a hold of those grueling project reports, study schedules and even more focus required of you to select a major?

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest industry news and trends across the globe, you will know that time management is not for business persons and harried housewives alone who juggle different tasks and need to always come out tops! It is equally important for the student community at large, especially college level students who have just come out of the sheltered and structured environment of high school and need to understand the essence of basic time management in order to prioritize goals, have an organized life, advance towards their dream careers and also reduce stress by working out a balance in their lifestyle.

Learn how to balance college fun and study life with student time management tips we have compiled from the best resources right here!

    • Conduct A Personal Time Survey For Yourself: list the things you need to do on a regular basis (weekly/monthly) and note down the approximate time it takes you to attend to these. Multiply the time spent on each activity by seven to know the approx. number of hours you spent on that activity in a week. Do this for all activities and add them up; then subtract the sum from 168 (total number of hours in a week) and you’ll know jut how many hours you can study.

    • Now, make out a time table for yourself. You can buy a ready made one or customize the online charts available on various websites and take a print out for making your calendar to fit in classes, meals, exercise routine etc. keeping in mind intervals needed to go from one to another/commuting time.

    • Fit in breaks in between long hours of study and organize your free-time as well so you can accommodate assorted tasks in your daily schedule without having felt you’ve left out on something or given others too much importance.

    • Be realistic in choosing goals you can achieve in the time-frame you set yourself; don’t aim at being a perfectionist for then you’ll only get de-motivated after a while of not getting the right results.

    • Prioritize your ‘to-do’ list and ensure these are in keeping with your goals. Learn to say no politely when others demand of your time kept aside for reaching a particularly important goal.

    • Multi-task wherever possible e.g. do laundry while listening to an audio lesson so you revise your work, read on the bus to college etc.

    • Don’t lose focus of what you need to do in the timeline given to you: if circumstances beyond your control require you to change your schedule, then re-prioritize with taking up where you left off the most important task the day before. This way you will find yourself back on schedule again!

As mentioned before, the key to organizing your life and living college life to the fullest is proper time management, which can be achieved with various web tools and basic knowledge of what makes you tick, knowing which are your strong points (e.g. perhaps a talent for public relations, artistic skills, good memory etc.) which are your weak areas that need to be worked upon (e.g. tendency to procrastinate, sleep late, eat junk food etc.) so you can sift through this information and arrive at a list of things you need to do.

  • Lace Wig and your real hair’s health?

I just bought a full lace front wig. Wonderfull hair. I have my own real hair which is great too - 14”, wavy, dark brown. I am a long hair girl and I think my best features are enhanced with long hair - which I used to have.
I intend to use my lace front wig for a year - the time that my real hair takes to get the lenght I need. I am going to use the wig for a week - wash my hair ( washing my hair once a week really works on me) and then after my hair is dry i would put my wig again and repeat this cycle for a year. Will my own hair be safe? Should I wear a wig cap or no wig cap?
The last thing I want to do is to ruin my own hair ( like with hair extensions and so)

    Please help!!!

  • How to Have Fun in College Without Partying

Posted on January 24th, 2009 admin No comments
    Tom Tessin asked:

When college students go away to college they have a lot of their parent’s rules. They are not allowed to do whatever they want and be home whenever they want. Although there are rules, most college students have a lot more freedom than they did at home. Since not everyone likes to party at college, they may feel like they are left out or not capable of having fun. The majority of college students love to party, have some drinks and like to have a good time. So what do the people that don’t like to party do? There are many things non partiers can do at college. Read below and see what you can do if you are one of them.

Explore the town - Is it a nice night outside? If so, try to get out of the building and get some fresh air. Get some friends together and take a nice little walk up town or around the campus. This is a good way to take a break from studying and just sort of relax. It’s good to get some fresh air so if it’s nice outside take advantage of the nice nights.

Movie time - Do you and your friends like movies? If so, now is the time to watch some fun movies. Get some friends together, get some snacks and lounge around to watch a movie marathon. There is nothing better than getting on your pjs and hanging out with your good friends.

Game night - Do you like to play games? There are many things you can do to have fun. You can have fun playing board games, playing cards, or doing games like improve/acting. Some fun games that college students like to play are Catch Phrase, Twister, and Pictionary. There are tons of fun games so go to the store pick up some snacks and have fun playing a game night!

Play sports - Is it a Friday night and you have nothing to do? Have fun playing a sport that you and your friends enjoy. Get a sports team together and have fun playing on teams. Want to make it more interesting and fun? Say the loosing team buys pizza tonight or a small little reward for the other team. Then go back and fill up on your favorite snacks. This is a great way to have fun with your friends, set down the books for a while and get out.

Get involved - Colleges and universities have a lot of fun clubs that you and your friends can join. Get involved with school and have something to brag about on your resume. Joining a club is a great way to do what you love, help out, and meet new people.

There are many things college students can do if they don’t like to party. Consider some of the ideas above and have fun with them. Just because you’re not out partying the night away doesn’t mean your “not cool”, and “outsider” or any of those or lame things people say. As long as you’re having fun with your friends whats it matter?

  • How To Get Your Hands On A Free College Scholarship

Posted on January 10th, 2009 admin No comments
    Paul Hata asked:

Year in and year out, fresh graduates from high schools all over America have the same problem finding a free scholarship for college. While for those who have gone to private schools, money won’t seem to be a problem as their parents could probably afford it. But for the millions of kids that go to public schools, this is a problem that has hounded them for years.

Many of these kids don’t even bother thinking about college. Most of them just get jobs and think about their independence. But how many of them do actually succeed and lead comfortable lives and get good earning jobs?

The chances are very slim. Getting a good college degree is the key to expedite the climb to the corporate ladder plus, they also get the much needed knowledge to be competitive in the work force.

The diploma is not just a piece of paper that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, the education that comes with those four years of hard work and great college fun is what you invest in.

But did you know that many college students from all over the country have been receiving scholarship money amounting to billions of dollars every year? This money comes from different sources and is divided up by many college students to get a free scholarship for college.

So the next question would be, how will you be able to get your hands into some of this money to finance your college education? Here are some steps many experts have recommended.

Start your search the earliest possible.

Don’t wait until you are in your senior year to find the source of these free scholarships. Even though you are just a junior, even in your sophomore year in high school, you should be able to start looking.

There are even scholarships that are already awarded to junior year high school students. The first place you should go to look for these scholarships is in the counseling office of your high school.

Then follow it up at the college financial aid office. You may also try the local community and civic organizations in your area. The Department of Education from your state is also a good place for inquiries. An dof course, the Internet.

Never stop looking for free scholarships.

Some scholarships are only good for a year or two. The more back up scholarship programs you have the more likely you will be able to finish your degree.

    Hone your skills and interests.

There are many scholarship grantees that focuses on a persons skills, particular interest, ethnicity, athletic and extracurricular achievements or religion, so even if you do not have the highest academic distinction in your class, you still have a chance to be a scholar.

    Be prompt with the deadlines

Note the dates when you have to pass your requirements, being late in your submission is as good as not submitting at all.

    Grab every opportunity.

Apply for every scholarship program that you think you may qualify for. You may not pass in all of them, but at least you have other options.

Beware of the many scams in the Internet; if a website is charging you, this is likely just a con to get some money. Be relentless in your search and you will get that college degree you need with a college free scholarship.
